- Architects: Urko Sanchez Architects
- Location: Vipingo Ridge, Kenyan Coastline.
- Status: Construction complete.
Designed by Mombasa-based Urko Sanchez architects, the ‘vipingo ridge villas’ are comprised of forty dwellings, which interlock in a sinuous arrangement.
Situated above the Kenyan coastline, the 3-story residences provide views of the ocean and access to an adjacent golf course.
In order to respond to the location’s climate and vernacular, the architectural language is described as ‘contemporary-Swahili’, with many outdoor terraces, passive ventilation, and stucco finishes.
The 15-acre complex includes six different villa layouts, which are arranged in distinct clusters of five.
The site features two communal pools, while each townhouse features its own ‘plunge pool’.
To increase the site’s tranquility, vehicular access has been restricted, with the exception of golf carts to reach the nearby course.
